A history of responding to industry need.
In 1982, trucking industry veteran Duff H. Swain founded Trincon Group as a consulting service originally focusing on owners of closely held corporations. At the time, many small and mid-size trucking organizations were struggling with the deregulation imposed by the Motor Carrier Act of 1980. Worster Motor Lines was one of those companies. Emerging from Chapter-11 reorganization, Woster turned to Trincon for help with a new business plan. As a result, Worster was one of only two transportation companies to successfully exit bankruptcy protection in 1983.

Based on the success of Trincon’s work, the demand for specialized consulting services increased. And ever since, Trincon has responded with new and improved services:
- In 1983, Trincon developed its Activity Based Costing Program and began using it to evaluate profitability for clients.
- In 1999, the company spearheaded an innovative program to address the severe driver shortage, which led to the creation of Trincon’s Driver Career Path Program.
- In 2002, Trincon partnered with transportation information consulting firm Martin Labbe & Associates to conduct a series of costing seminars for the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). The partnership led to the creation of Tru-Cost®, an innovative software solution geared toward the productivity needs of trucking companies.
- In 2004, Trincon started writing and publishing a series of white papers on critical industry issues.
- In 2005, Trincon began offering national online seminars.
- In 2006, Trincon released a series of three publications providing detailed information on new business development, driver hiring and retention, and activity-based costing.
Today, with its multi-faceted team led by four professional consultants, Trincon offers a complete line of business advisory programs, specialty services, and industry resources. Trincon has advised more than 150 companies, including Venezia Transport Service, M.S. Carriers, Southern Tank Transport, Southern Freight, Nussbaum Trucking, PGT Trucking, Groendyke Trucking, and Grand Island Express.
